Won Nyaci Rallies Lango to Safeguard Cultural Heritage

LANGO -The Paramount Chief of Lango,Eng.Dr. Moses Michael Odongo Okune,has called upon the people of Lango to remain committed to preserving,protecting and promoting the region's cultural heritage.
Speaking during a burial of the late mother of the clan head of Okii Ojukol,Francis Odongo Ali in Ajuri Cell,Eastern Ward,Oyam Town Council in Oyam District,Won Nyaci Odongo Okune said the Lango community must return to and uphold the positive cultural values inherited from their ancestors.
He emphasized that cultural preservation should include promoting the Lango language,traditional foods,cultural education and teachings,as well as indigenous names given to children.
The Lango Paramount Chief also urged religious leaders to create space for the preservation and promotion of cultural practices,noting that culture plays an important role in maintaining the identity and unity of the Lango people. In a message of unity,Won Nyaci called on the people of Lango to stand together and support one another,particularly during difficult times.
The Clan head of Okii Ojukol,Francis Odongo Ali,thanked Won Nyaci for standing with him during his burial of his mother and encouraged him to continue supporting and uniting the people of Lango.
The Oyam Eastern Ward II Chairperson Tonny Owiny Ojok,also commended Won Nyaci for his continued leadership and support for cultural leaders and the Lango community during challenging times.
Meanwhile,Won Nyaci also attended the burial of the late mother of the Clan head of Ober,Geoffrey Etwop,held in Anai Ward,Lira City. The cultural leader reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening unity among the people of Lango and ensuring that the region's rich cultural heritage is preserved for future generations.
