Amolatar police arrest man for allegedly killing brother, staging suicide.

According to a statement obtained from Moses Aboko, the LC3 Chairperson of Arwotcek Sub-county, Okwel Saban murdered his brother, Patrick Okabo, on Saturday before using a tarpaulin to suspend the body from a tree.

AMOLATOR - Police in Amolatar district are holding a man identified as Saban Okwel, a resident of Arwotcek Sub-county, on allegations of murdering his brother, and subsequently hanging the body on a tree to make it appear as though he committed suicide.

According to a statement obtained from Moses Aboko, the LC3 Chairperson of Arwotcek Sub-county, Okwel Saban murdered his brother, Patrick Okabo, on Saturday before using a tarpaulin to suspend the body from a tree. Aboko stated that when the father of the two young men heard the news, he reported that by the time he left home, he had left his two sons in good health. However, after a bitter quarrel, the two fought fiercely, resulting in the death of one.

 Aboko added that when locals arrived at the scene, they found blood dripping near a fence, leading them directly to the tree where the young man’s body had been hung. He noted that they immediately contacted the police from Amolatar Central Police Station and their colleagues at Anyangoga Police Post. Officers arrived, retrieved the body, and conveyed it to Amolatar Health Centre IV for a post-mortem examination.

The suspect, who was found crying and claiming his brother had killed himself, was arrested and taken directly to Amolatar Central Police Station. Reports indicate that the police are currently searching for other accomplices believed to have helped the suspect lift and hang his brother’s body on the tree.
