The Government of Uganda is set to roll out a nationwide vaccination campaign targeting 46.3 million livestock in an effort to eliminate Foot-and-Mouth Disease.

Lango - 12  July 2026  Speaking in Lira City, Dr. David Nelson Okello, Apac District Veterinary Officer and Chairperson of Veterinary Doctors in Northern Uganda, said the Ministry of Agriculture has finalized preparations for the exercise which begins in July 2026. " He urged farmers not to pay cash to veterinary officers. Instead, payments of UGX 8,000 per animal will be made through Post Bank Uganda and Housing Finance Bank to ensure transparency.

In Otuke, the District Veterinary Officer Dr. Goreti Atim said no FMD cases have been reported in Lango Sub-region, but preventive vaccination will be done.
