Agago Man Kills Wife,Dies After Taking Poison in Okwang.

OKWNAG SUBCOUNTY OTUKE : A 42-year-old man from Agago District has reportedly killed his wife with a machete before taking poison and died shortly afterwards in Okwang Sub-county,Otuke District.

 The incident occurred at around 5:00pm on Monday,August 10,2026,at Bar-opiro in Opejal Parish,Okwang Sub-county. According to the Assistant Resident District Commissioner of Otuke,Isaac Opio Opeo, the deceased,identified as Wilfred Okello, reportedly attacked his 32-year-old wife, Nancy Aol,with a machete,killing her instantly.He later took poison and died shortly afterwards. Opio Opeo told Q FM that police from Okwang,together with their counterparts from Otuke,visited the scene and recovered the bodies of the deceased couple. The bodies were taken to Otuke Health Centre IV for postmortem as investigations continue to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The Assistant RDC said preliminary information indicates that the couple had separated,although the motive behind the incident had not yet been established by the time of reporting. He urged members of the public to seek peaceful ways of resolving domestic disputes,saying that even where disagreements arise,people should avoid taking the law into their own hands.

Opio further appealed to the public to find appropriate ways of resolving disputes, saying people should forgive one another where possible but also warned that those who take human life must face the law. Meanwhile,Patrick Jimmy Okema,the North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson,told Q FM that police had not yet received a formal report regarding the incident at the time of speaking.

Okema said police were expected to establish the facts surrounding the incident and proceed with investigations.
