Police Arrest 12 Over Theft of 17 Computers from Premier Progressive SS in Lira City East .

LIRA CITY – The Police in Lira City East Division have apprehended 12 suspects in connection with the theft of 17 computers from Premier Progressive Secondary School in Lela Apeta Cell, Boke Ward, Lira City East Division.

 According to Police, the theft is believed to have happened during the school holidays.

North Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson, SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, said in a press statement that on September 21, 2026, at about 12:30 p.m., one Olot James, aged 36, the Deputy Headteacher of Premier Progressive Secondary School, reported the theft of 17 computers from the school computer laboratory.

A case of theft was subsequently registered at Lira City East Division.

The Divisional CID Officer and the Crime Intelligence Officer immediately launched investigations and arrested four watchmen attached to the school to assist with investigations.

They were identified as: 1. Edek Paskweli, 34 2. Orech Morrish, 32 3. Obong Bosco, 37 4. Otucu Paul, 39 Through continued intelligence, Police received information that someone was selling computers. One suspect, Odur Emmy, 19, a resident of Boke Adidikgweno Cell, Boke Ward, was arrested and revealed that a computer was with Adoko Emma who works at the canteen of Light City Junior School. Okema said when police went to Light City Junior School, a teacher identified as Ojok Harbert saw police at the gate and alerted another teacher, Amuge Brenda, who then took the computer from the office to the home of Aceng Gloria.

The computer was later recovered from Aceng Gloria’s home. Following the development, police conducted an operation and made more arrests. Those arrested later include: 1. Odur Emmy, 19 2. Adoko Emma, 21 3. Ojok Albert, 44, teacher at Light City School 4. Amuge Brenda, 39, teacher at Light City School 5. Aceng Gloria, 32, resident of Anai Bung Cell, Anai Ward, Lira City West Division 6. Akello Annet, 19, house maid to Aceng Gloria 7. Alobo Yusuf, 17, student at Premier Progressive Secondary School, who revealed that he stole the computers with his friend Orach Stephen, a student at the same school 8. Orach Stephen, 19, student at Premier Progressive Secondary School So far, three out of the 17 stolen computers have been recovered and exhibited at the police station.

Police say investigations into the matter are still ongoing. Once complete, the files will be compiled and submitted to the Resident Chief State Attorney for perusal and legal guidance before the suspects are produced in court.
