Alebtong to Send Four Schools to Uganda National Scouts Competition

ALEBTONG - 21/July 2026 Uganda – Four schools from Alebtong District have qualified to represent the district at the upcoming Uganda National Scouts Competition following a three-day scouting training camp held at Aloi Grounds.
The qualifying schools are Fatima Aloi Primary School, Obim Primary School, Apala Primary School, and Aloi Secondary School, the only secondary school among the finalists.
Speaking at the closing ceremony on Sunday, July 19, 2026, Camp Commander Bonny Alot said the training attracted 154 scouts drawn from seven primary schools and one secondary school across the district. "The camp brought together 154 scouts from eight schools, giving them practical leadership and scouting skills ahead of the national competition," Alot said.
District Scout Commissioner Joseph Alip acknowledged that inadequate funding remains one of the biggest challenges affecting scouting activities in Alebtong. He appealed to the district leadership to allocate more resources to support scouting programmes and establish a permanent district training centre to enable regular training sessions.
"With adequate funding and a dedicated training ground, more schools will be able to participate consistently in scouting activities," Alip noted. Alebtong Acting District Education Officer (DEO) Moses Agel encouraged the scouts to put into practice the knowledge and skills they had acquired during the training.
He challenged them to become responsible leaders, promote environmental conservation through tree planting, fight climate change, and apply the values of scouting within their schools and communities.
Agel also urged learners to remain disciplined, uphold moral values, and always put God first in everything they do. The four schools will now represent Alebtong District at the Uganda National Scouts Competition, where they will compete against schools from across the country in Entebbe.
