Boda Boda Rider Killed in Collision with Police Patrol Vehicle
One person died after a police patrol vehicle collided with a motorcycle in Apac District on a Monday Night, sparking a brief protest by residents near Apac Central Police Station.
APAC _ According to North Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, the crash occurred on July 6, 2026 at about 8:15 PM at Centre C, approximately 1 kilometre from Apac CPS.
Police say Patrol vehicle UP 00150 was returning from Akokoro Sub-county after deploying officers on official duty when a blue Bajaj Boxer, UDY 956S, ridden by an unidentified male boda boda rider, “knocked the left tyre of the vehicle while joining the main road.
” The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to Apac General Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem examination and identification by relatives.

AFTERMATH & POLICE RESPONSE
Following the crash, “some members of the community became agitated and pelted stones at the Police officers,” SP Okema said. Security teams managed the situation and no further incidents were registered. Both the police vehicle and motorcycle have been towed to Apac CPS and will be inspected by the Inspectorate of Vehicles as investigations continue.
A senior team responded to the scene immediately, including the Regional Police Commander, Regional Traffic Officer, Regional PRO, and the in-charge of PSU, to document the scene, inspect the vehicles, and oversee the probe.
