Five (5)Lango Government Schools Head to Kampala for National Science Competition
St. Katherine, Father Aloysius, Bar, Dr. Obote, and Comboni to represent Lango at Kololo STEM exhibition

LANGO -The schools qualified after emerging as top performers during the Regional Management Committee (RMC) Science Competition held at Lango College A total of eleven (11) government secondary schools from across Lango participated in the regional contest.
According to Regional Management committee( RMC) Chairperson Canon George M. Okwee, the five schools that qualified are: 1. St. Katherine Secondary School 2. Father Aloysius Secondary School 3. Bar Secondary School 4. Dr. Obote College 5. Comboni College Canon Okwee said each school is represented by two students who will compete in the national science exhibition.
“The competition provides learners with an opportunity to showcase their scientific innovations, exchange ideas with students from other regions, and develop practical skills in science and technology,” Okwee said.
Isaac Ocoo, Headteacher Lira Secondary School, encouraged the students to remain focused and learn from peers. “Use this experience to strengthen your knowledge in science and innovation,” Ocoo said. Morish Okunu, Headteacher Father Aloysius Secondary School, Bala Town Council, urged students to be disciplined and be good ambassadors.
“This is the first time both Father Aloysius Secondary School and Bar Secondary School have qualified for the national science competition. It is a major milestone for the two schools,” Okunu said. Lira City Education Officer Canon Jane Acio Obeny called on teachers across Lango to strengthen science education.
“The Government of Uganda is investing heavily in science and technology to drive national development,” Obeny said.
She also challenged the RMC Chairperson to engage headteachers of schools that did not participate in the regional competition to establish reasons for their absence and encourage wider participation in future editions. Canon Obeny wished the participating students success and urged them to uphold discipline and make Lango proud.
The national science competition brings together outstanding student innovators from across Uganda to showcase projects aimed at promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education
