Otuke District Hands Over New Classrooms Block and Drainable Latrine Worth UGX 66 Million
Ekwee P/S gets new 2-classroom block while Oboko P/S receives modern sanitation facility as district pushes for better learning outcomes
The handover ceremony saw the commissioning of a two-classroom block at Ekwee Primary School,constructed by Ayat Engineering Services Limited at a cost exceeding 42M UGX

The district also handed over a modern drainable latrine at Oboko Primary School,built by Join Hand Investment Limited at a cost of approximately 24M UGX

Assistant Resident District Commissioner (ARDC) for Otuke District,Isaac Opio Opeo reports the classroom block contract was awarded to Ayat Engineering Services Limited on September 15,2025,and the project was completed on June 20,2026. He added that the contract for the drainable latrine was awarded to Join Hand Investment Limited on September 18, 2025, and has now been completed and officially handed over.
He applauded the Government of Uganda under the leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for its continued investment in education infrastructure across Otuke District. He noted that improved classrooms and sanitation facilities will enhance pupils' learning conditions,improve hygiene,and contribute to better academic performance.
He emphasized that district authorities will continue ensuring all school-age children are enrolled in school,warning that parents who deliberately deny their children an education will be held accountable.
Opio made mentioned the district leaders will closely monitor the use and maintenance of the newly commissioned facilities while working with education stakeholders to raise education standards and improve examination performance.
Otuke District registered commendable performance in the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) and the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations, and leaders believe the new education infrastructure will further strengthen learning outcomes in the district.
