Lira Town College Class of 2016 Reunites with Purpose After Nearly a Decade
LIRA — Almost ten years after sitting their National A-Level examinations, the alumni of Lira Town College (LTC) Class of 2016 have successfully convened a landmark general meeting, shifting the traditional alumni narrative from mere nostalgia to strategic development and institutional impact.
The high-energy gathering, centered on unity and giving back, laid out an ambitious roadmap focused on supporting their alma mater while building a robust socioeconomic safety net for its members.
Driving Transformation at LTC
The non-profit association discussed several key initiatives aimed at boosting the school's current standing. Top on the agenda is the rollout of structured mentorship programs designed to guide current students through academic and career pathways. Additionally, the class plans to identify and fund critical infrastructure projects to support the college's ongoing expansion.
The body’s Patron, Mr. Emmanuel Angoda, highly commended the group for their organizational drive and vision.
"There are very many alumni associations of Lira Town College, but the LTC Class of 2016 is challenging the status quo and standing out," Angoda noted. He challenged the members to look beyond internal contributions by actively seeking strategic partnerships and lobbying for external resources to bring their projects to life.
Empowering Members in their Prime Years
Addressing the congregation, the Interim President, Mr. Opio Haron Justine, urged members to remain deeply proactive and engaged. He pointed out that after a decade away from school, most alumni have entered their active career-building and marriage age brackets, making collective unity more valuable than ever.
Mr. Opio emphasized that a fully structured, legally registered association will significantly enhance the members' professional leverage—making it easier to share job leads, access competitive markets, and stand by one another during emergencies and milestones. He further noted that structural frameworks are actively being set up to ensure the association remains distinctive, while strongly appealing for maximum discipline across the ranks.
On the financial front, Vice President Sharon Aciro called for immediate, proactive commitment. She reminded members that transforming their vision into reality requires consistent backing, urging everyone to stay dedicated to association meetings and fulfill contributions toward upcoming charity drives, project fees, and official T-shirts.
A Lasting Footprint
As the Class of 2016 embarks on this structured journey, the members remain determined to leave a permanent, positive mark on Lira Town College while fostering lifelong relationships. 10 years after turning the page on their high school chapters, this reunion marks a powerful transition toward sustainable community impact and mutual growth.
