Lango Cultural leaders Organize Prayer for LRA War survivors
Provost of Lango Diocese, Rev. James Okaka, said it was important for the leaders to come together in prayer so that God may forgive them for the lives lost during the conflict.

LANGO 13/7/2026 Cultural leaders Lango are planing to Organize prayer that aims to bring together cultural leaders and (LRA) survivors who were abducted by the Lord Resistant Army (LRA) and later returned home.
The purpose of the event is to seek God’s forgiveness . Provost of Lango Diocese, Rev. James Okaka, said it was important for the leaders to come together in prayer so that God may forgive them for the lives lost during the conflict.
According to Okaka, the initiative has received support from the Lango Cultural leaders under His Highness Bishop Prof. Alfred Olwa. He added that Christians and Muslims will unite in prayer to ask God for forgiveness and to pray for peace, noting that life remains difficult for many communities.
Okaka, also confirmed that preparations are already underway.
Abel Ogeny, Coordinator of the Initiative in Lango, said plans are also in place to travel to Acholi Sub-region to mobilize the chiefs who can come and attend the prayer scheduled for 9th September 2026 at the Lango Cultural Institution Headquarters in Boroboro.

Morish Okello, Chairperson of the Initiative, said the group was formed to seek government support. He explained that initial efforts to raise funds to address their needs were unsuccessful, prompting them to organize the prayer and commit everything to God while asking for forgiveness for past wrongs.
The initiative has also been welcomed by Scovia Akello of Agweng Sub-county and Joel Peter Okello of Apala Sub-county
