NUVA LAUNCHES NATIONAL REFEREES TRAINING COURSE 2026 IN LIRA CITY

LIRA – The Northern Uganda Volleyball Association (NUVA), in partnership with the Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF), officially opened the National Referees Training Course 2026 on Tuesday 11th August 2026 at Lavington Park formly known as Coronation Park Lira City. The 3-day course is running from 11th to 13th August 2026.
A total of 32 participants from Lango, Acholi, Karamoja, Buganda and the media fraternity are in attendance.
The course is being facilitated by FIVB International Referee Innocent Komakech, who will lead both theory and practical sessions at the Lavington Park.
The training was officially opened by Daniel Okwee, Chairperson of NUVA, who welcomed all participants and facilitators. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Okwee said: "We are excited to host this very important course as we start to rebuild volleyball in the region. With this course, all of you have begun a journey to becoming FIVB International Referees." The Chairperson emphasized that quality officiating is key to the growth of volleyball in Northern Uganda and urged participants to take the training seriously.
At the end of the course, Successful candidates will be certified to officiate NUVA and UVF sanctioned games in the 2026/27 season. The Northern Uganda Volleyball Association is the regional body mandated to develop, promote, and regulate volleyball in Northern Uganda under the Uganda Volleyball Federation.
