Bongoyinge Harriet emerged top among 13 contestants who represented districts across Acholi, Lango, and Westnile
Miss Tourism Uganda Northern Region 2026 finale held on Saturday Night at Lavington Park, Lira City. The pageant delivered a full night of culture, brains, beauty and purpose from bold self-introductions to a tough Q&A on tourism, the contestants showcased knowledge of Northern Uganda’s destinations and heritage.
1st Runner-Up : Delafraique Rita She also clinched Miss Popularity, winning the crowd’s hearts.
2nd Runner-Up : Atim Patricia Prosper – Crowned Mature Multimedia Queen for grace, experience and digital influence among other positions
The queens will now carry the Northern flag to the national stage, tasked with promoting key tourism sites including Kidepo Valley National Park, Murchison Falls, Aruu Falls, Nyero Rock Paintings, and the rich cultures of the region.
The night ended with cheers, ululations, and electrifying cultural performances filled Lavington Park as the North rallied behind its new tourism ambassador. Hon. Mercy Lakica, Woman MP for Alebtong and Minister of State for Children and Youth Affairs, was the Chief Guest. She urged the winners to be “the best ambassadors and put up a good fight to represent the Northern level.”
Hon. Lakica applauded the organizing committee and said the pageant “will act as an avenue for jobs for young people. With over 500,000 youth who are jobless and untrained, this is an opportunity to showcase skills and get employed.” She pledged her full support to Miss Tourism Northern Region, noting that “she is now a national figure who must be supported.”
RCC Lira City, Laurence Egole, said this was his fourth time witnessing the event since his appointment. _“It’s all about brain, beauty, and not only body beauty,” he noted.
