The Central Executive Committee for the Dwog Pacu Cup has declared readiness for the 2nd Edition
Chairman Kenneth Kaunda Okwir, unveiled its CEC team and a support package: 2 sets of jerseys and 2 training footballs per constituency, plus accommodation and feeding. Kaunda said the new “pay per every stage” prize system will improve competition quality, control match fixing, and make the tournament unique. Champions will take UGX 9.6M if they win all group stage earnings, while 3rd place goes to the semi-final loser with more accumulated cash.
Brief Background: What is Dwog Pacu Cup?
Dwog Pacu Cup is a constituency-based football tournament for Lango Sub-region launched in 2025 and run by Dwog Pacu Foundation. Beyond football, the tournament focuses on talent development, education support through school bursaries, and environmental conservation via mass tree planting. The 1st edition set the tone for “football with purpose”.
New CEC Structure Announced
Chairman Kenneth Kaunda Okwir revealed the CEC team: 1. Chairperson: Kenneth Kaunda Okwir 2. General Secretary: Jonan Okello 3. Treasurer: Sam Ebuk, aka “Sam Samu” 4. Patron: RCC Lira City, Laurence Egole 5. Chairperson Technical: Patrick Bongo 6. Public Relations Officer : Abel Ogwang Kaunda said positions for Stadium Management and Disputes Resolution Department will be announced later by the CEC.
“We have all the resources”, Chairman Kaunda told delegates the Central Executive committee (CEC) is fully ready for the 2nd edition with all resources secured to run a smooth tournament. Support Package For Every Constituency Team: 1. Jerseys: 2 sets of original jerseys for 25-man squad. Branded with Dwog Pacu Foundation + Constituency logos. Defending champions get 4 logos including a golden trophy. 2. Footballs: 2 training balls per team Will be distributed via DFA Chairpersons. 3. Welfare: Accommodation and part of feeding provided by the CEC.
1st Edition Achievements
1. Greening Lango: 10,000+ seedlings planted across the sub-region 2. Education: 15 players got school bursaries 3. Talent: Ambrose Kigozi “Player of Kiyoga” from Amolatar, and Otim Andrew now at SC Villa, Uganda Premier League, were discovered
